Yearly Scholarships Granted
Scholarship Awards 2009

The Tan Sri Alex Lee Scholarship Fund awarded scholarships to the following national athletes: Cik Lim Poh Hong (Volletball), Cik Nabilla Ariffin (Gymnastics), Cik Durratun Nashihin Rosli (Gymnastics) and Encik Faris Almas-Lee Rosmanizam (Cricket)

Scholarship Awards 2006
The Tan Sri Alex Lee Athletes’ Education Fund is invested with the Amanah Raya
Berhad, which amounts to RM 360,055.60 as at August 2006.
A total amount of RM 77,551.00 has been awarded as scholarships to fifteen (15)
former and current national athletes since 2000.
RM 25,500.00 has been paid off for 2006. RM 12,000.00 for four (4) continuing
scholarship recipients and RM 13,500.00 for four (4) new recipients.

“I was given a partial scholarship by Olympic Solidarity to attend the MEMOS VI Programme of the Olympic Solidarity in 2003. I am therefore very thankful for the grant which enabled me to successfully complete the MEMOS Degree for the Executive Masters in Sports Organization Management.”

“I retired from Athletics after winning my fifth consecutive gold medal in the High Jump event on 8th December 2003 in the 22nd SEA Games in Hanoi. I was awarded a scholarship by the Tan Sri Alex Lee Athletes’ Education Fund to study for a Diploma in Sports Management, which I completed in 2004. I am thankful for the opportunity to improve myself. The Sports Management Course will certainly benefit me in my future involvement in athletics as a coach or as a sports manager.”

The Fund has thought me to strive for excellence in sports and my carrier, It not only helped to ease the financial burden on my parents during my University days but also moulded me into a responsible and high achieving leader. I obtained an Electrical & Electronic Degree (Hons) from University of Tenaga Nasional and currently employed as an engineer with MAXIS. I am currently, the vice captain of the Malaysian cricket team. I take this opportunity to thank the Fund for its great support towards my achievements in becoming an engineer and a cricketer.”
