Handing Over of Jalur Gemilang by the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia to the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the 2004 Olympic Games


The Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, Datuk Azalina Othman Said, hand the Jalur Gemilang (National Flag of Malaysia) to the Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Contingent to the 2004 Olympic Games, Datuk Dr. M. Jegathesan, in a simple but dignified ceremony on 28th July 2004 at Dewan Komanwel, MSN Bukit Jalil at 4.00 pm. 

In her speech to the Olympians, the Hon. Minister called on them to perform to the best of their abilities in order to make the 23 million Malaysians proud. 17 of the 26 Olympians were present the Ceremony, the rest are training overseas. The youngest and smallest athlete, Diver, Bryan Nickson Lomas from Sarawak, took the oath on behalf of the Olympians. Bryan Nickson Lomas, will also be the Malaysian Flag Bearer in Athens at the Opening Ceremony on 13th August 2004.
