Olympians of the Year - an award by the Olympic Council of Malaysia, in recognition of the achievements of our National Sportsmen and Sportswomen. Presented to the most outstanding male athele and the most outstanding female athlete of the Malaysian contingents to multisports Games under the direct control of OCM.

Selection of the Olympian of the year, are based the results of the following Games are taken into consideration:

  1. Odd Years - SEA Games
  2. Even Years - Asian and Commonwealth Games or Olympic Game

Selection of the athletes is decided by OCM based on the recommendations of the National Sports Associations. The control of entries and participation conditions are under the sole control of OCM. The Olympian of the Year will each receive a cash prize and a medallion. The Olympian of the year awards are sponsored by Coca-Cola.

Hall of Fame - Since its formation in 1953, the Olympic Council of Malaysia, has formalised a concept called the Hall of Fame. The objective is to honour persons who have devoted themselves and contribted greatly to the development of sports in Malaysia.

First proposed in 1974 by the then Minister of Sports, Hamzah Abu Samah. The main role of the Hall of Fame is to dipict the highlights of the progress of Sports in Malaysia.

IOC Trophies - Every year, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), presents awards based on a certain theme that is both relevant with current issues and in line with what Sport and Olympism is all about. Malaysia has no shortage of deverving individuals/institutions who have played a major role in developing sports and promting Olympism in Country. Each year the IOC writes to OCM to nominate a person or organisation to receive a specially themed trophy that has been commissioned by the IOC.

OCM – Carlsberg Athletes Retirement Scheme - Carlsberg Malaysia became a sponsor of OCM in 1994.  The Carlsberg sponsorship fees are utilized for the OCM-Carlsberg Athletes Retirement Scheme, which was created to provide a retirement scheme for athletes who fulfilled a few conditions.

The Retirement Scheme is in the form of a Whole Life Insurance Policy for the benefiting athlete.

The OCM - Manulife Athletes of the Games Award was established in December 1995 for the Chiang Mai 18th SEA Games.  A cash award and a medal are awarded to a selected number of outstanding athletes who achieved exceptional performance at the SEA or Asian or Commonwealth or the Olympic Games.  The selection of the outstanding athletes, male and female, based on performance and by sport is by a Committee comprising representatives of OCM and John Hancock.
